The dangers of the night

I set off for the point on the map where the tablette en pierre is supposedly to be found and immediately came across a man trying to hide from someone. He begged me not to tell anyone that I'd seen him, and that's what I did when someone asked me - I lied and got away with it, but I'm not sure it was the right thing to do.

I also came across a wolf, but one poison-tipped arrow and he was a goner.

Then I headed down to the river, but on my way, I decided to investigate a little clearing to the west and was promptly attacked by a witch who conjured up a magic wolf to attack me and then engulfed me in flames. I lasted about 10 seconds...then I was cinder.

I'm not sure if the witch was angry that I killed a wolf earlier, or just annoyed that I'd disturbed her...I'll try to sneak past her the next time though...

Here goes...

Exploring Blanchrive

I've decided to go and see the Jarl at Blanchrive - it took me a while to get there, but it definitely feels like I'm in the grand ville...although I'm sure there are other grander villes to visit in Skyrim.

Blancherive is enormous and is full of people you can speak to. I started talking to some of them and then realised that I could spend days doing this, and taking on small errands and tasks if I wanted to...now with the subtitles on, I can also understand quite a lot more than I could before. But, best head for the Jarl first.

Now talking to Jarl Balgruuf le Grand...

'Le dragon a dètruit Helgen. Quand jel'ai perder de vue, il se dirigeait par ici'

'Beau travail...en gage mon estime pour vois'

And now I have a new mission...

I find him and we talk...

'Bien, où faut-il que j'aille et qu'est-ce que je dois ramener?'

'Retrouvez la Pierre de dragon' (he said a lot more, but this was the most important piece of information)

'Comment pouvez-vous savoir que cette tablette en pierre se trouve au Tetre des chutes tourmentées?'

'Un secret professional'

So...to sum up my new mission...

OK...here I go...

The story so far

Just found two videos of Skyrim being played in French. The first shows the gameplay from the beginning until just before arriving at Rivebois

And the second was taken in the inn where I am now, listening to the minstrel...

The two together make a good summary of the show so far, I think...

Exploring Rivebois

Talking to Alvor was a good idea, as he's full of information about the area. He says I should go to Blancherive and...

'Addressez-vous  au jarl de Blanchrive' about the dragon. It sounds like it would be in my interests to tell him the news.

Then I say my goodbyes and leave them to their lunch. I decide to take a look around Rivebois while I'm here...

I go to the 'Marché de Rivebois' first and when I walk in there's an argument going on between the merchant and a woman who may be his wife. No...it seems it's his sister, and they don't get along very well.

I speak to Lucan Valerius

'Il s'est passé qualque chose?'
'Oui, s'est fait voleur' ...then
'Je pourrais vous aider à recupérar la griffe' it seems I'm volunteering to find something for him, a 'griffe d'or' in the shape of a dragon that was stolen from him. Looks like I have something else to do apart from speak to the Jarl.

Lucan tells me he also has lots to sell and so I take a look at what's on offer. There's a lot here that I suspect I could take advantage of, but I don't have much gold yet (only 83 coins) and so can't buy much.

I do, however, sell him some of the stuff that I have picked up so far and don't really want anymore, making a tidy profit of over 300 gold pieces...

Outside I meet Embry and invite him to drink with me, but he asks...

'Vous avez de la bière o de l'hydromiel?' and I don't, so I go back and get some beer from Lucan

Embry and I drink together, but he isn't very talkative.

We listen to a minstrel in the Sleeping Giant pub, and I decide to call it a day...

Rivebois avec mon ami

Hadaver introduces me to his uncle (?) as 'mon ami', which makes me pleased...great to see how our relationship has developed...

I go inside and we talk...

'Comment faire pour rejondre la Légion impériale?'

It seems like I need to go to a nearby village, called Solitude and talk to General Tullius if I want to rejoin the Empire. Well, at least I know now, should I change my mind.

'Bon chance!' it seems like Hadaver wants me to go now, but I've made a new friend in Aldaver, who says that any friend of Hadaver's is also a friend of his. Well, that's nice to know.

Alvor also has lots of things to buy including 'carottes', so I should probably stock up here before hitting the road.
